On the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, we look back at the positive stories around the world amongst the global pandemic crisis.

Even though things have been tough with Covid-19, one positive news in the past few months have been about the environment. Nature seems to be healing itself. Take a look around and you will see wildlife coming out in numbers in Jasper National Park, Canada, the water canals in Italy have never been clearer, the air pollution levels have come down in worst polluted cities like New Delhi, New York, Wuhan, etc. For the first time in years, people can see the Himalayas from the state of Punjab as the air pollution has come down. Dolphins and whales have been visible in higher numbers migrating like never before.

This brings our attention to the fact that just four months of human beings staying inside had such a huge impact on the environment. This means sustainable living is highly achievable and nature can heal itself given the time.

Therefore, we need to rethink how our actions in day to day life affects the air, water, land, biodiversity around us. Things like adopting work from home wherever possible, avoid unnecessary flights and adopt remote meetings, find ways to accommodate biodiversity increase and stop their routes or stop impeding on their habitats. Accommodate lifestyle of co-habitation with plants as well. The list goes on regarding all the changes we can make.

So take a moment today, look around you and think about how can be the change for tomorrow.
